Friday (today), Warwick's will host author Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai who will talk about her book, Dust Child.
Saturday, the Indian Fine Arts Academy Festival will continue at the JCC (with performances on Sunday, too). Tijuana-based band Adeumazel will perform at Duck Foot Brewing. There will be a Lao New Year Gala at the California Center for the Arts. The GRAMMY award-winning Chucho Valdés Quartet will perform at the Conrad Prebys Performing Art Center. There will be a Lao New Year Gala at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.
Sunday, there will be an Iranian Sizdah Bedar (Nature Day) celebration at Liberty Station. At Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, there will be a ballet performance of a Midsummer Night's Dream. D. G. Wills Books will host a Ukrainian Poetry Reading. The Quartyard will hold an Afrodiaspora Day Party. A Pilipino Cultural Night will take place at USD's Shiley Theatre. Mexican comedian Edgar Vivar will perform at the Mic Drop. Tribute band Ronstadt Revival will perform at the Belly Up.
Tuesday at Warwick's, James M. Zimmerman will discuss and sign copies of his book, The Peking Express. Digital Gym will screen the Chinese drama Suzhou River, with a repeat screening on April 18th.
Wednesday, Warwick's will host online Sophie Mackintosh as she discusses her new book, Cursed Bread. At UCSD there will be a panel discussion on Ukraine's Unnamed War. The film Moulin Rouge! will be shown at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.
Next Thursday at UCSD, there will be a panel discussion on U.S. Reporters in the PRC. At the Sherman Heights Community Center, the film Home is Somewhere Else. At UCSD, activist, filmmaker, and writer Tourmaline will present a talk. At the Museum of Contemporary Art, the art exhibition Songs of Rice and Rivers will open. San Diego's Civic Youth Ballet will be their run of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Casa del Prado Theater.
Next Friday, Greg Douglass, Blossom and Bloom, and Ritmo Latino will perform at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library.
Next Saturday, the Native Resource Center at SDSU will hold their annual Pow Wow. The House of Scotland will hold their annual Tartan Day celebration at the international cottages in Balboa Park. On Broadway Pier, the West Coast Taco & Beer Festival will take place. At SDSU the Afro Festival: Colliding Worlds of Culture will happen. There will be a K-Wave Festival at Julep on Hancock St. At the Manchester Hyatt, the classic Bogart & Bergman film Casablanca will be shown. Tiranos Del Norte En Vivo will perform at the La Sinaloense Bar & Grill. Exotic Deadly, or the MSG Play will open at Old Globe Theatre. Dancing Queen fans are sure to enjoy ABBAMania at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.
Local theatrical offerings include The Cherry Orchard at North Coast Rep, The XIXth (The Nineteenth) at the Old Globe, Exotic Deadly, or the MSG Play also at the Old Globe, and Monsters of the American Cinema at Diversionary.
